3 Things to Consider When Choosing a Wardrobe

A wardrobe is something that people in their homes use every single day, and yet there is often very little consideration placed on this piece of furniture in comparison to something like a dining table or a sofa. The truth is that a wardrobe can make or break a bedroom, and it can either make getting dressed in the morning a pleasure or something totally chaotic. Here are some things to keep in mind when you are choosing a wardrobe for your bedroom:

Your wardrobe doors. Many people put all the focus on the inside of the wardrobes, and while this is an important aspect of any wardrobe design, it's the doors that you have to see every day. If you are working with a very small space or you simply want a very sleek look, sliding wardrobe doors would be the best option. Without handles, the look is more minimal, and it won't add clutter to your space, which is especially important if you have a small bedroom. Many people working with smaller spaces will also choose a mirrored door because the reflective material will create the illusion that your bedroom is much larger than it really is.

The interior wardrobe space. The interior of the wardrobe is extremely important because this is where you will actually keep your clothes and shoes, and there is no one-size-fits-all solution for how that interior space should be organised. If you wear lots of t-shirts and sports clothes, for example, you will require more drawers and shelving inside a closet, whereas if you wear lots of dress shirts, trousers, or formal dresses, hanging space should be your priority. If you have drawers, you should also consider if these will be hidden away behind a sliding wardrobe or a visible part of the wardrobe design.

Choose materials wisely. When it comes to materials, they need to be sturdy enough to hold many clothes and shoes, but the materials also need to blend with the aesthetic of your bedroom. If you have a rustic wooden bedframe and side table, a metallic or mirrored wardrobe probably won't fit very well. There are also materials that you can use to finish your wardrobe doors. If you are looking for something sleek, a laminate finish or a coat of polyurethane paint could be good choices. Opaque glass on sliding doors is another way to add a different textural dimension to your wardrobe.

With this information, you should be able to choose the wardrobe of your dreams.
